National Trust - East Pool Mine

East Pool Mine lies at the very heart of the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site which celebrates the extraordinary technology that shaped the modern world. Exploring the site reveals many reminders of its innovative past, including two great beam engines, preserved in their towering engine houses. Each day, the restored winding engine springs into life as if beckoning you to work. Today nature has reclaimed this once-bustling industrial location, but the engines are still two of Cornwall’s most important treasures. Note: Trevithick Cottage is nearby at Penponds (open April to October, Wednesdays 2 to 5).
