National Trust - Trerice

Narrow lanes with high hedges suddenly reveal the exquisite beauty of the intimate Elizabethan manor house. Behind 576 panes of glass is the Arundell family's magnificent Great Hall with its refined plasterwork ceiling. Upstairs the Great Chamber has an even finer ceiling and views out to lands once part of the extensive estate. The story of the Trust's tenants in the 1950s who rebuilt a fallen part of the house and devoted themselves to the restoration of Trerice unfolds in the North Wing. Tudor defence and entertainment are brought to life by visitors trying on armour and playing traditional games.
