What is the Get Active Challenge?

To take part you need to form a team of three with your workmates, colleagues, friends or family to challenge others across the county and circumnavigate the coastline of Cornwall. If you have more than three people who wish to take part you can enter more than one team for some fun rivalry.

If you can't find a full team, we can help connect you with others who are short on numbers.

To beat the Challenge and complete the virtual route around Cornwall you will need to achieve 60 miles' worth of physical activity between you a week. So if you all complete equal amounts of activity that's 20 miles per week each, which is the equivalent to five hours of physical activity or 40,000 steps.

What is a Private Team Challenge?

A Private Team Challenge is one that you can do alongside your workmates, friends or family.

To make it realistic you should consider that it is 360 miles around the coastline of Cornwall; so it's best to break it down into chunks and work out how far you want to travel each week. 2,000 steps equates to 1 mile, as does 15 minutes of physical activity. Use this to work out how active you want to be.

For example, if you have a team of 4 people and you each want to be active for 30 minutes or walk 4,000 steps a day, you would be travelling 2 miles every day. This would total 3½ hours of activity or 28,000 steps each a week and everyone would achieve a distance of 14 miles a week.

Therefore, your team challenge would be to travel 56 miles a week between you and this would take 7 weeks to cover the 360 miles around the coast.

What is a Personal Challenge?

A Personal Challenge is something that you can do on your own to try and get more active.

To make it realistic you should consider that it is 360 miles around Cornwall; so it's best to break it down into chunks and work out how far you want to travel each week. 2,000 steps equates to 1 mile, as does 15 minutes of physical activity. Use this to work out how active you want to be.

For example, if you want to be active for 30 minutes a day or walk 4,000 steps a day this equates to achieving 2 miles every day (or 14 miles a week) and totals 3½ hours of activity or 28,000 steps a week. Based on this calculation, a 25 week Challenge, would give you the right amount of time to cover the 360 miles.
