H Tempest Photography, LDD, Camborne Science and International Academy, Newquay Junior School and Cornwall's' Probation Services are amongst organisations taking part for the first time in the Get Active 2015 Workplace Challenge.

This year has seen over 220 teams register from over 50 different organisations based in Cornwall taking part in the Get Active 2015 Workplace Challenge, which is taking place from the 28 September - Sunday 8 November.

The challenge has been developed and coordinated by the Cornwall Sports Partnership, and run through the Get Active Cornwall website. The free six-week online Challenge offers the opportunity to get active, however you choose.

Through the support and promotion by Cornwall's Workplace Health scheme and the Workplace Health Award, the Challenge is attracting new organisations, teams and challengers who are keen to improve their fitness and wellbeing.

In 2013 the average employer was off work with illness for 4.4 days, with 131 million days were lost due to sickness absences in the UK. The main cause for these lost days of work was musculoskeletal conditions such as back and neck pain, leading to 31m days off work.

Rachel Faulkner, Cornwall Health Promotion Workplace Health Coordinator, has said ‘"The challenge is a fun and exciting opportunity for any company whatever size to take part.  It can really help improve team spirit and get employees thinking about small changes that can increase physical activity levels during and after work.'

Matthew Cotton of TRAC Services who have taken part in previous challenges commented, ‘We look forward to entering the Challenge every year as its brings out the great team spirit within our organisation.  We find that the Challenge is the perfect way of motivating teams to increase their daily activity.'

The Get Active 2015 Workplace Challenge start on Monday 28 September until Sunday 8 November.
